Karen O'Maley, is an integral member of the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) patient care team at Neurosciences Queensland, bringing over 30 years of neurology and neurosurgical nursing experience. With a profound commitment to patient well-being, Karen has amassed over 15 years of specialised expertise in DBS therapy, offering comprehensive care supported by evidence-based practices for individuals navigating DBS therapy for their movement disorder condition.
 
In her role, Karen has provided education and training for healthcare professionals across all disciplines and health care services, ensuring a widespread understanding of DBS treatment modalities. Her enduring dedication to advancing the field is evident through her active involvement in ongoing research endeavours, aimed at assessing treatment outcomes and fostering best practices in Movement Disorders.
 
Karen holds a Master of Nursing (Research), underscoring her commitment to scholarly pursuits and enhancing the quality of patient care. Her collaborative approach with neurologists spans three decades, emphasising a patient-centric ethos. Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Karen provides unwavering support, assessment, education, and medically directed treatments for patients and their families dealing with movement disorders.
