Dr Kat Akram

We are pleased to introduce Dr Katarina Akram, who has recently joined our team at Neurosciences Queensland and is now accepting appointments.
​
Dr Akram is a UK‑trained General Practitioner with extensive experience in complex mental health, neurodiversity (including ADHD assessment, diagnosis and management), and chronic disease care in neurodegenerative conditions. She is known for her compassionate, patient‑centred approach and her commitment to understanding each individual’s unique needs.
​
She holds a Fellowship with both the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). Her background includes approximately 20 months of formal psychiatry training, Level 1 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) training, and ongoing psychiatry training. She has also contributed to GP education through registrar teaching at James Cook University.

Dr Akram is an active member of the RACGP Specific Interests Group (ADHD, ASD & Neurodiversity) and the Australasian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA). She continues to expand her expertise through national ADHD conferences and professional development programs.

At Neurosciences Queensland, Dr Akram welcomes referrals for:
• ADHD assessment, diagnosis and management
• Psychological assessments and mental health support
• Chronic care planning for neurodegenerative conditions, including Parkinson’s disease
• Collaborative care for patients with complex neurological and psychological needs

She will be well supported by our multidisciplinary team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, neurophysiologists and Parkinson’s disease nurses, ensuring comprehensive and coordinated care for all referred patients.
​
She is also contributing to the development of a new GP‑led multidisciplinary chronic care pathway to better support patients with complex, long‑term neurological and psychological conditions.
